Our trade like so many others has been severely hit by the pandemic, but as we slowly start to return to new normal conditions there are reason to be confident about the future.
Many fish and chip shops were able to start trading, if on shorter hours and reduced menu, more quickly than some of the the big brands and certainly pubs and restaurants. This gave a lot of business the opportunity to attract new customers who’s usual choice was still closed. A good number of our clients have reported very good levels of trade with customers saying “we have not been here before but love the fish and chips and will certainly be coming back”.
There is widespread acceptance that the country is heading for a bad recession, but historically fish and chip businesses have done well if difficult economic times. It is still very good value for money compared with other types of take away food and if people cut back on eating out they will remember fish and chips for under £10 a head is still excellent value.
So, keep standards high in your business and go forward with confidence.
